Marilyn J. Foust, 73, of Hollister, Missouri, and longtime resident of Indianola, Iowa died unexpectedly Sunday evening, January 1, 2012 in her home on Lake Taneycomo.
She was born on June 5, 1938 in Warren County, Iowa, the daughter of John and Mary McPherson. She was valedictorian, homecoming queen, and proud graduate of Spring Hill High School in 1956 where she enjoyed riding her horse to country school, participating in 4H and church activities, and dominating the basketball courts in central Iowa. Marilyn married her high school sweetheart, Bill Foust, on July 1, 1956 and they traveled the country while Bill proudly served in the United States Army meeting many lifelong friends along the way.
Marilyn worked as a teacher's aide in the Indianola School District for nearly 15 years at Irving Elementary School and touched the lives of many children. In 1993, the couple pursued their dream of moving to the Ozarks and bought a lake home on Table Rock Lake in Blue Eye, Missouri. In her later years, she worked 13 years as a hostess at the Belgian Waffle House in Branson where she established wonderful friendships with her co-workers, customers, and country music stars on the Branson strip.
She leaves behind her son, Jason (Maia) Foust of Liberty, Missouri and three loving grandchildren, Will, Annika, and Britta. Other survivors include brother Bill McPherson of Des Moines, Iowa and sister Linda (Bud) Henke of Waconia, Minnesota; and longtime companion Don Aston of Bull Shoals, Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, William "Bill" Foust, who passed away May 30, 1997.
Never wanting for herself, she leaves behind immense memories of her humility, fondness of friends, pride in her family, and her passion for St. Louis Cardinals baseball and college basketball.
Memorials contributions in her honor may be left to the Indianola Community Youth Foundation or Liberty Hospital Foundation.
