James Edgar Smith passed away Saturday June 2, 2012 at his home in Hartford. Funeral services will be held at 10 am. Friday, June 8, 2012 at the Middle River Friends Church in rural Carlisle with burial to follow in the Carlisle Cemetery. Jim was born in Des Moines, Iowa and was raised in the Hartford/Carlisle area. Jim attended school in Carlisle and served in the US Army in the Vietnam War. Jim retired as a pipe fitter for the VA Hospital in 2006. Jim is survived by his wife of 32 years Bee of Hartford, their son Jesse(Kyla) Smith of North Carolina; Mother Marie Smith-Moore of Oregon; Sisters Anna(John)Stevenson of Oregon, Kathy Addleman of Des Moines and Brother Mike(Jeannie) of Oregon. Jim was preceded in death by his father Marvin and a sister Donna. Jim will be greatly missed by many other friends and relatives.
