Florence "Iola" Schreiber, age 84, passed away December 29, 2011 in the presence of her loving family. She fought a courageous battle with colon cancer for three and a half years. Iola was born May 2, 1927 to Daniel and Ruth Trunnell. She graduated Valedictorian from Norwood High School and attended Simpson College. On March 23, 1946 Iola was united in marriage to Robert N. Schreiber. She worked as a secretary at Hawthorne Elementary School in Indianola for 27 of the 30 years she was with the Indianola School District. Iola loved working with the students, staff and families.
Survivors include her husband of 64 years Neil; daughters Loretta Block (Mel Schampers) of Seymour, Wisconsin, and Pam (Gene) Wadle of Lacona. She was blessed with five grandsons; three great grandchildren and her sister Bertha (Nifty) McNeer. She cherished her family and dear friends. There will be a Farewell Memorial Gathering for friends and family from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Monday, January 2, 2012 at Peterson Funeral Home in Indianola. Her wishes were to be cremated. A private graveside service and interment will be at a later date. Memorial contributions will go to H.C.I. with special thanks to Sherry, Theresa and pastor Jeff.
